Artist: Margo Vigorito

ARTIST BIO

Since moving back to Australia in 2003 after 12 years living in the United States Margo has established herself as a dedicated contemporary painter and workshop instructor teaching private & group classes from her home studio and venues throughout Victoria & Cairns QLD where she now lives with her husband Stephen.

Margo has been living in Cairns in FNQ since May 2015. She is a member of the long established Cairns Art Society & displays & sells her new work in their gallery at the DFO Centre on Mulgrave Rd, Westcourt.

For several years she has been developing her own style. Her random, often chaotic start allows the freedom to explore dynamic shapes rather than get locked into a finished composition too early. Layering colours and values results in her paintings having tremendous depth. Also, the incorporation of graffiti & personal letters of life’s experiences is collaged into some pieces, resulting in a literal presentation of her life.

It has been said that Margo’s enthusiasm to further her horizons is evident in the diverse nature of her collection, and that through this constant evolution of talent her students are inspired and challenged to further their own artistic experiences. This influence becomes more evident with the results of her former and current students’ participation in art shows across America and more recently in Australia.

For the past 50 years she has been demonstrating and teaching portraiture, landscape, abstract and figurative works in various techniques and all mediums. She is very conscientious about keeping up with new and improved methods & materials to further better her work & that of her students.

Margo first opened MAC Gallery and Studio in Harvey’s Lake, Pennsylvania in 1996 where she held monthly exhibitions and taught classes. After moving to Bonita Springs, Florida in 1999, she opened Banyan Gallery and Studio and joined the faculty at the Art League of Bonita Springs and at Barrier Island Group (BIG) Arts on Sanibel Island.

Her work is shown by appointment at her home, Cairns Art Society Gallery at the DFO Shopping Centre in Mulgrave Rd, Cairns, selected shows and many collections throughout Europe, the United States of America and through her gallery247 website.

She is very passionate about creating vibrant works of art & only asks that you enjoy the show.
