HISTORY

Australian born 1972, with a Hungarian heritage, I have been painting for 28 years. Professionally for 11 years. My trademark specialization is that of strong colors, well worked textural application of the paint, the utilization of ground bronze and copper in some of the final stages of my paintings.  My formal training was developed during my studies in Art and Design at Swinburne technology. I have also completed a diploma for Interior Design at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) Melbourne Victoria.

ARTIST BIO

Since I was diagnosed with bipolar 8 years ago my artwork has changed for the better.

I am now 41 years old and have been painting for 28 years. Professionally for the past 11 years. Though the work I produced in this period was very unresolved and manic in many ways, painting still always offered me a place for mental grounding within the turbulence I had accepted as “normal” for so many years.

My current work signifies a new beginning for me in so many ways, as now my new mental state allows me to further develop not only the process of how I create the work but also further understand why I need to make the work. My work now has contrasts of textural elements, being the turbulence, and then the smooth brush strokes which is the calmness within my mind.

Now more than ever I am attracted to the peace I find within nature, hence I use photographs that I take of landscapes as the initial inspirational ingredient in my work. The landscapes I evolve from these photographs take on a life of their own as they become my “mind”. Colour is one of my most powerful tools in my quest to create refuges for my own mind within the manufacturing of my works.

Growing up on the Boulevard in Kew which was 7km from Melbourne, yet the back yard was the Yarra River and bush landscapes.  These amazing images in my mind are also fused into many of my artworks.

I am also inspired and extremely fascinated by natural phenomenon like volcanos, icebergs, glaciers and bushfires which are evident in my series of abstract works. Generally I find that water, oceans, lagoons play a huge part in my paintings, and overall the colours in my paintings create an expression of mood, peace, and power. The Orkney Island series of cliffs and rocks in the Northern region of Scotland are both peace within me as well as an emotional attachment to this amazing place which I hold onto for many reasons.

I hope my artworks can also inspire a sense of peace and contemplation in others as well as provoke the imagination.
